Frequently asked questions about Primo BIO

What are the characteristics of Primo BIO oil from the Tonda Iblea variety?

It is the native variety of the Iblei Mountains, in south-eastern Sicily, and has grown spontaneously on this island for millennia.
Organically grown olive trees of the Tonda Iblea variety are generally large and vigorous, with dull gray leaves. The fruits are large (think on average 6 grams) and have a good ratio between pulp and stone, in fact the oil yield is good (between 16% and 20%). For a long time this olive was used as a table product. The fine oil obtained has an intense fruitiness and a bouquet of various scents, from tomato to almond to cut grass. It is rich in polyphenols and vitamin E.

Where is Primo BIO oil produced?

Extra virgin olive oils from the Tonda Iblea variety are produced in the eastern part of Sicily, in particular in the provinces of Ragusa and Syracuse. The Iblei mountains, which give the area its name, are located between the two provinces and the olive trees, including those of the Tonda Iblea variety, represent the typical and most widespread vegetation.

Primo Bio can be recognized by the appropriate BIO mark on the label. It is the guarantee that the product comes from plants grown organically.
