  • The properties of oregano

    Oregano is a very fragrant aromatic herb that has always been used in many traditional preparations in Sicily, from bruschetta to seasoning sauces and tasty sauces. From the point of view of properties, oregano promotes the secretion of gastric juices and is therefore considered a digestive. It is also antispasmodic, antiseptic, vermifuge, calming, analgesic and expectorant.

These genuine products are then transformed in our modern canning plant with the help of latest generation machinery. We use innovative cooking and preservation techniques that guarantee absolute respect for the original recipe and, at the same time, the preservation of all the organoleptic characteristics of the fresh product and its main nutritional aspects. The absence of preservatives and colorings allows you to taste a genuine product.

In Sicily, dried oregano is used practically everywhere. Our favorite use is on freshly warm bread bruschetta, especially when in autumn we taste the first oil from the mill, Frescolio. But this highly aromatic herb can change the fate of a sauce, embellish tomato and onion salads in summer and orange and fennel salads in winter, flavor grilled meats and vegetables and, of course, pizza.

With dried oregano you can prepare many traditional and creative dishes. Among the latter, for example, pesto. In this case the oregano is blended with eco oil, pine nuts and grated cheese. For an original and Mediterranean dish, it can be used to season pasta with anchovy sauce or pasta with fresh tomatoes. Another interesting idea is to use it to flavor butter to then use for croutons.

Sea salt is flavored by adding spices and dried herbs. This mixing allows you to add taste and flavor to dishes without having to add quantities of salt. We follow a family recipe that allows us to respect the right proportions between salt and aromas and we only use strictly Sicilian, zero kilometer herbs and spices.
